SEAHORSES WONDER

Assalammualaikum and a very good day everyone. In this entry, I want to tell you more about one of the marine animals which are seahorses. Before that, do you all know anything about seahorses? Seahorses are fish. They live in water, breath through gills and have a swim bladder. However, they totally different from fish. They do not have caudal fins and have a long snake-like tail. 

They also have special features which they have a neck and a snout that points down. Seahorses have a great eyesight. Their eyes are able to work independently on either side of their head. Therefore, they can look forwards and backwards at the same time and this is particularly useful as they hunt for food by sight. Besides that, seahorses have a long thin snouts which enabling them probe into nooks and crannies for food. They will suck food up through their snouts like a vacuum cleaner whenever they find it. Their snouts can expand if their prey is larger that the snout. They have to disintegrate the food as they eat it because they not able to chew. 

Also, seahorses pair for life. They meet first thing in the morning just to reinforce their pair bonding with an elaborate courtship display. The female seahorse will meets the male in his territory and they will change color as they approach each other. Then, the male will circles around the female and the pair often spiral through an object. This display can last up to an hour and after that the female will return to her territory. The most interesting fact is the male seahorses are the only creatures where it has a true reversed pregnancy. The female transfers her eggs to the male which the male will fertilizes in his pouch itself.
